A scattering of thoughts on the NBN and the Change petition.

Good on Malcolm Turnbull for defending his policy with Moore's law and magniloquent language.

Sure in 10 years the network will have slower speeds than today, but that really doesn't matter. Bandwidth doesn't need to be evenly distributed because the Milieu this affects won't bother the Coalition when Telstra & Optus build a faster, more modern network to replace the NBN. This is because the Coalition understands that the people who won't get this new network are poor people, who tend not to vote for the coalition, and country folk, who will vote for the Nationals regardless. It's a win-win.

The Coalition needs to think about today, and this election cycle. Who cares that the head of Google thinks this is a short-sighted decision. What does she know, she's a woman? How many technology companies are run by women? None that I care to think about.

The Coalition knows they are making the right decision because the Coalition is the party of business, and forward thinking economic decisions. That's why Peter Costello sold our gold reserves; $306 an ounce, I'm sure it's never been higher.

In the end the Coalition's plan makes better economic sense than the original policy because hitherto it has been incompetently rolled out, therefore it's a bad policy. Sure the economic benefits on the NBN have been costed at $3800 per person by the end of the decade. Sure when I buy a TV show on iTunes it takes literally, without any hyperbole whatsoever, two hours to download, but this has nothing to do with the cable on my suburban city street being distributed beyond its capacity, rather like Tinker Bell, I just have to learn to believe it will be faster. The petitioners should learn the same, and continue to be treated with contempt.

The New Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor: for they have the chance to overcome an unregulated free market.

Blessed are those who mourn: for they shall be indifferently pitied.

Blessed are the meek & self-loathing: for they shall forget they are made in God’s image.

Blessed are those who hunger & thirst after righteousness: gullibility is delectable.

Blessed are the merciful: their error will be corrected by the strong & cunning.

Blessed are the pure in heart: may they never see the truth of man.

Blessed are the peacemakers: may they die before realizing its transience.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: they shall not be called happy til they die.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you & falsely say all kinds of evil against you: they help you carry your cross hoping you’ll be crucified on it.
